For over a decade, we've walked alongside communities fighting for what's rightfully theirs—defending treaties, protecting waters, and making sure corporations play by the rules.
Look, we're not your typical suits-and-briefcases firm. We got into this work because we saw too many communities getting steamrolled by bureaucracy and corporate interests.
Our team combines decades of experience in Indigenous law, environmental litigation, and constitutional rights. But what really matters is that we listen first and fight second. We've sat in community halls, walked traditional territories, and spent countless hours understanding what's actually at stake.
Some folks think environmental law is all about paperwork and regulations. Sure, that's part of it. But really, it's about protecting the things that matter—clean water, healthy forests, and the right of communities to have a say in their own futures.
Started with three lawyers and a shared frustration. We'd all worked at bigger firms and kept seeing Indigenous clients getting second-rate service. So we said screw it, let's build something different.
Helped a coastal nation halt a pipeline project that would've cut through unceded territory. Took two years and every ounce of energy we had, but the courts sided with the community. That's when we knew this approach actually worked.
Brought on specialists in environmental impact assessment and constitutional law. Also started our community education program because legal knowledge shouldn't be locked up in law libraries.
Opened regional offices and started working with nations across BC and into the Prairies. Turns out when you actually give a damn about your clients, word spreads pretty fast.
We're now a team of 22, handling everything from treaty negotiations to constitutional challenges. Still operating on the same principles we started with—community first, always.
We don't parachute in with solutions. Every case starts with listening—really listening—to what the community needs and wants. Their priorities become our priorities.
We've turned down lucrative cases when they conflicted with our values. Money's important, sure, but not more important than being able to look our clients—and ourselves—in the eye.
Environmental and Indigenous rights cases aren't quick wins. We're in it for the long haul, building relationships and strategies that protect communities for generations to come.
Sometimes the textbook approach doesn't cut it. We're not afraid to get creative, combining traditional legal strategies with innovative approaches that actually reflect the complexity of these cases.
Legal expertise shouldn't be hoarded. We run workshops, publish guides, and mentor younger lawyers because the more people understand their rights, the stronger everyone becomes.
We acknowledge we're often working on unceded territories with nations who've been here for thousands of years. That means respecting protocols, learning from elders, and checking our egos at the door.
We're a diverse group of lawyers, paralegals, and community liaisons who share a common goal. Here are some of the folks you might work with.
Plus 16 more brilliant people including paralegals, researchers, and support staff who make everything run smoothly.
Whether you're a nation looking to protect your territory, a community facing environmental threats, or just need someone to explain your legal options—we're here to help.
